Truth

Elizabeth Hugo Uncategorized 0 0

Today is one of those days where I am trying to understand some difficult situations. We all have them, along with our automatic responses to those situations, whatever they may be. However, I am no longer interested in my automatic responses according to the truth from my own perspective or experiences. I am more interested in utilizing my automatic responses as signals that there might be a higher truth to explore.

We often hear how there are three sides to every story – yours, mine, and the truth somewhere in the middle. When I feel confused, afraid, angry, or guilty, I can be pretty sure I am believing some lie about myself or someone else. When I allow my peace to be stolen, I must take “drastic” measures to get it back. First, I must identify the lie that I am believing and replace it with God’s truth according to the scriptures.

I do this by getting myself quiet and first asking God to show me what is really going on. Sometimes, I may even talk to my pastors or a trusted friend. Once I can identify the real problem, I can then take action to come to a place of resolution even if it is only in my own heart. I cannot control others, I can only control myself and my own responses.

It seems like I have some decisions to make, and in need of divine wisdom. It is time to get into that quiet place and find the answers I need, even though that can be a little scary too. Sometimes I am introduced to a me I never knew, but the freedom that comes after the truth is exposed is well worth it. I want to move from a place of peace even if what I am asked to do is hard; even if others don’t understand or respond positively to those choices. I need to be sure that the intent of my heart is as pure as one can be this side of heaven.

Ephesians 6:14,15  Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

James 1:5. If any of you lacks wisdom let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
